TikTok now provides a platform to advertisers where they can run shopping Ads with three different formats to choose from according to their needs.
Shopping Ads is a simpler, smarter and more advanced advertising solution that helps brands meet buyers during the checkout process, drive demand and increase sales according to TikTok.
It is a three-in-one solution with new formats for receiving and combining: Video Shopping Ads, Catalog Listing Ads, and LIVE Shopping Ads.
All type of shopping ads is now rolling out for testing.
TikTok continues its E-commerce push by launching three types of shopping ads with advanced placement options that extend beyond the For You page.
The three types of advertising include:
- Video Shopping Ads
- Catalog Listing Ads
- LIVE Shopping Ads
All new ad formats are available in TikTok Ads Manager via buying object “Product Sales”.
Advertisers can use these new Shopping ads with or without a TikTok E-Commerce store.

Video Shopping Ads
Shopping video ads allow advertisers to create shoppable videos across the For You page for people to check out products.
This ad type combines the existing features of TikTok ads, dynamic display Ads and collection Ads.
Shopping video ads will dynamically combine video ads and product cards in various variations. The format can be a specific product to drive sales or a broader brand message to increase trend in the market.
When TikTok collects data, it optimizes campaign performance by dynamically selecting the highest conversion combination.
When a user taps on an ad, TikTok creates an in-app landing page to better determine the user’s purchase intent. This page allows shoppers to learn more about the product and directs users to the retailer’s website when they are ready to buy something.
Collection ads and dynamic display ads will remain available until the end of the year, after which TikTok plans to phase out them in favor of shopping video ads.
Catalog Listing Ads
Catalog Listing ads allow advertisers who do not have a video or otherwise; to promote product catalogs at scale with new placements on TikTok.
Something advertisers appreciate about catalog listing ads is that they are not required to create video content.
The ads allow brands to appear in front of a TikTok audience without creating a video, which is the first option to advertise on TikTok.
Catalog listing ads pull product images from a retailer’s catalog instead of videos and promote them at shopping locations. Users find ads through branded content on the For You page.
Live Shopping Ads
Live Shopping Ads are specifically designed to promote the live shopping stream.
Live Ads help direct users from the For You page to live shopping events.
According to TikTok, these ads can drive traffic to live shopping events by placing them in front of people who are ready to buy.
Are TikTok Shopping Ads Available Globally?
Yes, Shopping ads are now available for testing globally, giving marketers and businesses plenty of time to get used to them before the Christmas holidays.
TikTok Shopping Ads Requirements
To get access to Shopping Ads, advertisers must achieve Level 1 status by integrating advanced signals and linking their product catalog. TikTok has a PDF guide outlining the entire process.
Advertisers do not need to use TikTok Shop, an in-app ecommerce solution, to run Shopping ads.
While TikTok Store can be used with Shopping ads, advertisers can direct shoppers to external websites.
