One Unified Gmail for All The Ways You Connect

Gmail has changed a lot in the last 18 years, and from the very beginning Google is committed to helping billions of people around the world stay connected and get things done. Google latest changes bring useful updates to all Gmail users, including the best from Google Workspace combined with a fresh new look based on Google’s Material Design 3.

Over the years Google introduced new ways to stay productive, such as: These include tabbed inboxes, AI-powered innovations like Smart Compose and Smart Reply, and the ability to use Gmail on the go with native Android apps and iOS. (Fun fact: Gmail was the first app on the Google Play Store to hit 1 billion installs!) Often these changes are very visual, like custom inbox themes, but some of the really important ones are less noticeable, like AI-based spam, phishing, and malware-protection.

Google first announced the new integrated Gmail interface as a preview in January, and Google received a lot of feedback from users interested in the new look, along with suggestions for improvements.

Starting today, the integrated view is rolling out to all Gmail-enabled chat users. You’ll see a clean and efficient way to switch between apps, which you can customize based on your preferences.

The quick settings on the left side of the window let you choose which app to switch to, be it Gmail alone or a combination of Gmail, Chat, Spaces, and Meet. Label lovers can see separate sections for system Label (such as starred, pending, and important) and custom Label that you create yourself. And chatty people see balloons with snippets of incoming messages and quick reply options instead of opening the entire message.

Over the next few weeks, users will be able to enable integrated views using the new visual configuration options in Settings — and anyone who wants to keep their existing Gmail layout can do so. You’ll get a Gmail that best fits your personal style; along with a clean new.

In addition to the user interface, Google constantly works to make Gmail more powerful and customizable. For example, Google making it easier than ever to find the messages you’re looking for by providing a search chip in your inbox and improving search results that best match your query.

And later this year, Google disclose to bring a better experience for tablet users, better emoticons, new accessibility features, and more.
